Finally one photo was also published in the Times. Just to clarify, I took the photos through the fence from the public viewing area at Donna Nook reserve where people are encouraged to visit (in Lincolnshire, not Norfolk). I also checked with the warden whether it was ok to use flash in daylight and he said that it was. I didn’t walk out on to the beach and did not get in the way of the pups and mum’s. Lots of photographers do go out onto the beech at Donna Nook and an increase in seal pup mortality has been recorded there in recent years. I hope these photos show that you can get a nice shot without affecting the seals.

Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy
